APRIL 24
Two weeks ago I forgot to write a newsletter because I had cramps, and then this Friday I forgot to write a newsletter because I was tired and had lots of rally to watch. And that’s fine! Because I am just doing this for fun! I can send newsletters whenever I want or don’t want! I could send hourly reports documenting my progress watching Rally Croatia half a day out of sync from when the stages actually occurred! But I won’t, I like you all too much for that.
I do think it’s very funny that I sent two thoughtful newsletters where I had things to say, and now I’m sending you this, which is like nothing, on a Monday. Happy Monday. Maybe I’ll have something interesting to say, maybe not! Who knows!

WHAT I WATCHED
I went to the movies for the first time all year, and I love going to the movies so much, even when the movie itself, the new John Wick, is just alright. The things that are best about it are best enjoyed on a very large screen with great sound. I hadn’t been to The Main since the film society took over and it stopped being St Anthony, and it’s so much nicer. This was during the stretch of fake summer and I walked over there, which was honestly nicer than the movie.
I rewatched Pow Wow Highway with my dad after having just read the book. It’s great, but not as impressive as I remember it being. What really struck me is how in the film none of the women really get a chance to do anything, while they get to be people in the book. Obviously decisions have to be made in adaptation, you have to choose one thread if you’re going to make a book fit into a (very short) film, and it’s right to make it Philbert’s story. But having just read the book I missed what the women got to be.
I watched Queen of Speed, a documentary about Michèle Mouton, an incredibly cool rally driver from the 80s. She won multiple rallies, and almost won the world championship in 1982. All of the archive footage is incredible. The fact that another woman driver hasn’t had the opportunities to reach the same level as her in the past 40 years sucks. But damn she’s cool. She’s the FIA safety delegate now, and still incredible!
ZINE CLUB
Continues to exist. This month it’s going to be a weird little art object.
SONG OF THE DAY
This came on shuffle when I was on the bus today, and now I’m listening to the whole album for the first time. Half Man Half Biscuit are just a fun time. I love a punk band that’s very silly and has a lot to say.
