Absolutely beautiful weather today. I took a long walk through the park and the sculpture garden, spent a while sitting on a bench reading some poetry, saw a lot of great dogs. I’m pretty sure this is still fake spring — there’s a 30% chance of snow next Sunday — but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

WHAT I WATCHED YESTERDAY
I’m pretty sure I never watched Joel Schumacher’s Batman movies as a teenager. They have a reputation for being such total trash, and I feel like it’s only within the past few years that people have started to embrace them as great trash, just totally beautiful camp art. I put on Batman Forever last night after I failed at paying attention to the subtitles of the movie I really wanted to watch, and wow! What a fun movie! Burton’s version of Gotham is already so incredible looking, and this just makes it even more extreme and silly looking. It’s so day-glow, there are so many costumes that light up. It’s definitely too much, but I also had a great time. I love Schumacher because he makes these huge movies for a wide audience that also have a very gay sensibility, giving that to an audience who probably didn’t sign up for that, and also me, who totally did. This movie has so much going on, and it rarely all works at once. It’s too busy and messy to be any sore of masterpiece, but it is a very fun time.
SONG OF THE DAY
Fall Out Boy’s Infinity on High was one of the first big albums that I was really excited about that I found very disappointed when it finally came out. I still find listening to it all straight through to be upsettingly tiring, but there are some real great songs. I’ve been listening to “Hum Hallelujah” a lot this week, and someone should be held accountable for the Cohen riff it goes on in the middle, but it’s still pretty awesome.
Happy Spring!
