This week was weirdly busy and I’m really tired and don’t feel like writing anything. It’s been a busy week, but not interesting to anyone except me, or like, barely even interesting to me, just busy. I read the novel Exit West by Mohsin Hamid this week, and I really loved it, but don’t feel like I have anything smart or interesting to say about it. I read When the Ghosts Come Ashore by Jacqui Germain, and it was a treat to gel with a book of poetry after the last couple I read didn’t work for me. Wednesday night my mother and I drove to Hudson, Wisconsin to pick up a bookshelf I bought off facebook marketplace. Hudson is basically an exurb, but it was the first time I’d crossed state lines to buy something from the internet. I don’t think that’s interesting, but that gives you an idea of what the whole week was like, boring things that take more time and energy than you really want them to.
PICTURE OF THE CAT
he stood there yelling because he couldn’t figure out where to go.
ZINE CLUB
Sign up by midnight tonight to get the March issue, which is about comic book stores that don’t exist anymore!
WHAT I WATCHED
I’ve been watching rallycross highlights from like, 2016-17. I’m not going to try to explain this. I was going to make my dad take me to the new John Wick movie this week, but instead we drove to Duluth and back in a day, which was yesterday, and now I’m so tired.
SONG OF THE DAY
I have really enjoyed the new 100 gecs album. It’s obnoxious and fun, and provided a perfect cleaning soundtrack for me on Monday afternoon. It’s so energetic, and goofy, but there’s still a lot of heart. The pitchfork review is worth reading, it does a better job than I could do at capturing how 100 gecs plays with a lot of influences that have some toxic vibes, but turns them into something new. The reinterpret a lot of bro-y shit that I enjoy with reservations and turn it into something to get excited about.
I always enjoy your blogs.
